Take extra precautions during summer heat

With temperatures expected to rise into the high 90s this week, the Lexington-Fayette County Health Department reminds everyone to follow safety precautions to avoid heat-related illnesses.

EH takes on mosquitoes

Senior Environmental Health Specialist Nathan Powell conducted an interview with GTV3 at McConnell Springs to provide information about how LFCHD helps control mosquitoes. Powell also demonstrated how EH kills mosquito larvae with a chemical called a larvicide.

FCDC thanks you

The Fayette County Diabetes Coalition would like to thank all employees who contributed to this year’s Diabetes Team Walking Challenge. The 11 teams helped raise $105 to benefit the 2012 Step Out Walk to Fight Diabetes. More than 1,200 walkers from Lexington and surrounding areas showed up at Keeneland to participate on June 2. Health Promotion staff were on-hand to distribute information about LFCHD’s diabetes programs and classes. FCDC thanks you for helping raise awareness for diabetes in our community.
