ListenUp service provides confidential way to report serious issues

The ListenUp service is designed to provide employees with a secure and confidential way to report serious wrongdoing and major breaches of conduct at the health department. ListenUp is an independent service not affiliated with LFCHD.

Having Listen Up does not change Human Resource’s open-door policy, nor does it bypass the grievance procedures. Wear red Feb. 14 for heart health

The Lexington-Fayette County Health Department’s Community Health Equity & Education team and the Healthy Heart Coalition of the Bluegrass would like to encourage you to wear red on Valentine’s Day (Thursday, Feb. 14) to raise awareness about heart health as part of American Heart Month.

The mission of the coalition is to empower individuals to improve heart health through awareness and education. Kentucky is in need of heart health education according to a study from the Cabinet of Health and Family services showing that only 15 percent of Kentuckians recognize signs and symptoms of heart disease, and 23 percent for stroke.

The Coalition will be distributing Valentine’s Day cards with pieces of chocolate to employees on Feb. 14. These cards will include a message “How is your heart rate? Know your ABCs! Appropriate Aspirin therapy for those who need it, Blood pressure control, Cholesterol management and Smoking Cessation.”

For more information about heart health, visit www.heart.org.
