Cornett welcomed as new business services officer

The Lexington-Fayette County Health Department would like to welcome Jack Cornett as its new business services officer, which includes the areas of finance, procurement, plant management, information technology, billing, and related activities.

Jack Cornett is a graduate of the University of Kentucky and holds a Master’s degree in Business Administration from Xavier University. A retired finance executive with IBM, he held numerous financial management roles, including Controllership of an IBM business unit.

Upon retirement from IBM, he and his family returned to Lexington where he started his own business, Remedy Intelligent Staffing, an employment services agency. He successfully operated Remedy for 13 years and sold the business in 2007. During this same period he received an appointment to state government in the administration of Gov. Brereton Jones as the executive director for the Kentucky Information Resources Management Commission. In this position he helped establish Kentucky’s first office for oversight of the state’s efforts and investment in Information Technology.

Most recently, he worked four years for the University of Kentucky in financial management roles in the treasurer’s office and the College of Medicine. He is not the retiring type and says he is very anxious to begin his new career with the Lexington-Fayette County Health Department.

He and his wife Lucy live in Lexington. Their sons John, Will (and his wife Erin) all work and live in Lexington.

He brings an extensive and varied background in finance, management and staff development to the department.
