Community Health Equity and Education (CHEE) Coordinator Jessica Jackson appearanced on WTVQ, WKYT and WLEX this week to promote the June 22 Minority Family Wellness Expo at William Wells Brown Community Center (WWBCC). Jill Chenault-Wilson, director of the WWBCC, also joined Jackson on some of the programs.

In case you missed our previous post, CHEE is gearing up to host the Minority Family Wellness Expo 11 a.m.-3 p.m. this Saturday, June 22, at the WWBCC. This free event features a variety of health screenings and family activities. Screenings available include: BMI, glucose, blood pressure, diabetes foot screenings, cholesterol, hearing, vision, HIV testing, height, weight, dental checks and more. There will also be interactive demonstrations and aerobics; face painting for kids; and the inflatable colon will be on display outside of the center. Prizes, gift cards and incentives will also be available, including chances to win a bicycle and hula hoops.

CHEE also hopes to see you, and your family, at the event! By attending the expo, you can even earn 10 points toward your Worksite Wellness Incentive Plan (points will be applied to the 2013-14 cycle).

Reminder: Our great partners at the Lexington Division of Parks and Recreation/William Wells Brown continue to host free exercise classes at the WWBCC 6 p.m. every Tuesday and Thursday. You’re invited to join, and to help spread the word to the community!
