Public health goes to school
Elayne Hollinger, senior health educator, works closely with young students at various Fayette County schools through her involvement with the Postponing Sexual Involvement (PSI) and Reducing the Risk (RTR) programs.
Community Health Equity and Education (CHEE) Team Member Elayne Hollinger spent the summer teaching more than 160 girls, ages nine through 15, a variety of abstinence education classes at William Wells Brown, Lexington Traditional Magnet School (LTMS) and within other segments of the community. Classes covered topics like puberty, hygiene, peer pressure, assertive ways to effectively say no to negative pressures, self-esteem and an introduction to sexually transmitted infections.
